Da Minot is a music collective based in Shillong, Meghalaya, India.
It was founded in 2020 to share with the world, through songs and visuals: the
rhythms, melodies, stories and wisdom of the “Ka Bri U Hynñiewtrep” (Land
of the Seven Huts), which is the ancestral name of the Khasi and Jaiñtia Hills.
The songs of Da Minot are firmly rooted in the traditional music of the land.
Inspired by the unique rhythms and sounds that have resonated since time
immemorial, the band creates new versions of the timeless beats and
melodies, building upon the foundation passed down and preserved by ancestors.
​Every community has its own stories, legends, and mythology, within which
you will discover a unique understanding of the world, fellow man and
nature. The lyrics of Da Minot open up the listener to a world seen through the Khasi lens.
